Jayme Tibbatts

Junior Web Developer

Who is Jayme?

I recently graduated in 2017 from Staffordshire University where I achieved a 2:1 in Web Development. I am currently based in Wrexham, Wales, meaning that I will be working remotely as Fishtank’s new Junior Web Developer!

My previous experience working from home as a freelance web developer means I am able to work for Fishtank remotely without it affecting my work performance, client relationships or learning as I have previous experience working in this environment. Remote working has become a part of the ‘new normal’ over the past year, it enables creative minds to collaborate on a global scale and I’m looking forward to starting this journey with Fishtank!

I am eager to learn new things and am always chasing to be a better developer.

I joined Fishtank in July 2021 and am looking forward to using my knowledge and experience within the web development world to create and build websites alongside Fishtank’s fantastic team of developers. I am also looking forward to gaining new skills and perspectives from working with such a diverse group with many different backgrounds and experiences.

My initial spark for web development came from MySpace back in the early 2000s. I had a blast creating profile themes and figuring out how HTML and CSS worked. Once I gained experience within HTML and CSS, naturally, I was drawn to art as my creative outlet. This is where I discovered that software development was a great opportunity to merge my two passions. Studying software development at college, I excelled in the web design modules which fuelled my desire to take on a degree at Staffordshire University in Web Design.

During my first year of university, I felt that coding was really my forte and I made the degree switch from Web Design to Web Development to take advantage of the coding modules. After completing university, I took the time to build my skills in web development before joining an agency. I used this time to brush up on the latest technologies and create my own projects, which landed me my first job in the industry.

With this experience, I was able to work freelance during the pandemic, which led to the opportunity to work remotely for Fishtank as the new Junior Web Developer. I am looking forward to learning more about web development in an agency setting as well as bringing a fresh, female perspective to the team. I am eager to learn new things and am always chasing to be a better developer.

Life Outside Fishtank

My main passion outside of work is gaming! I have been a gamer since the age of 6 when my grandparents bought our family a PC, along with my all-time favourite game ‘The Curse of Monkey Island’. This then expanded into Nintendo and I started to play the Pokemon games.
I am now an avid PC gamer, filling my time with simulation and management games, alongside World of Warcraft.

When I am feeling productive, I take the time to learn other programming languages such as C# and attempt my hand at game development. I have also dabbled in 3D modelling.

Bucket List Best Bits

I also enjoy going to live concerts and always take the chance to see a band live whenever they are near. My main bucket list item would therefore be to experience a 5-day outdoor music festival. I have wanted to go to Download Festival since I was a teenager. I am hoping that 2022 is my chance to knock this off my list!
