Jayme Tibbatts
Mid Full Stack Web Developer
My initial spark for web development came from MySpace back in the early 2000s. I had a blast creating profile themes and figuring out how HTML and CSS worked.
With a creative background in art, I discovered that software development was a great opportunity to merge my two passions. Studying software development at college, I excelled in the web design modules which fuelled my desire to take on a degree at Staffordshire University in Web Design. In my second year, I switched to Web Development as I found that coding was something I really enjoyed.
After completing university, I took the time to build my skills in web development before joining an agency. I used this time to brush up on the latest technologies and create my own projects, which landed me my first job in the industry.
With this experience, I was able to work freelance during the pandemic, which allowed me to gain insight into the industry and develop my skills further.
I joined Fishtank in July 2021 and I have been able to work on a variety of projects alongside Fishtank’s fantastic team of developers.. With each project, I have faced new and different challenges. I am always eager to learn new things within my industry. I take advantage of learning from the diverse group of developers we have at Fishtank , who have allowed me to become a better developer.
I am also one of the fully remote members of the team. Remote working has become a part of the ‘new normal’ over the past couple years, it enables creative minds to collaborate on a global scale. It has been a refreshing experience to be able to have such a close relationship with the whole team, even while working miles away in Derby.
Life Outside Fishtank
My main passion outside of work is gaming! I have been a gamer since the age of 6 when my grandparents bought our family a PC, along with my all-time favourite game ‘The Curse of Monkey Island’. This then expanded into Nintendo and I started to play the Pokemon games.
I am now an avid PC gamer, filling my time with simulation and management games, alongside World of Warcraft. When I am feeling productive, I take the time to learn other programming languages such as C# and attempt my hand at game development. I have also dabbled in 3D modelling.
Bucket List Best Bits
I enjoy going to live concerts and always take the chance to see a band live whenever they are near.
My main bucket list item would therefore be to experience a 5-day outdoor music festival. I have wanted to go to Download Festival since I was a teenager. I am hoping that 2023 will be my chance to knock this off my list! Alongside this, I would love to see a band in a different country and have the experience in a band’s home country/city.
