Max Wright
Junior Web Developer
After graduating from The University of Huddersfield with a First Class BSc honours in Computing I have returned to the tank following my industry placement here. Fishtank allowed me to gain lots of experience and open my eyes to the world of development in my placement year and thus gave me the opportunity to return full time to an environment I thoroughly enjoy – working with a fantastic group of creatives of pure talent.
What I love most about working at Fishtank is the collaborative process that goes into everything we produce. Being able to develop websites from the ground up from mockups provided by the design team is one of the most rewarding parts of my job as I get to take these quality designs and transform them into functional, interactive sites.
Working alongside clients and designers to take initial plans, designs and ideas through to the final product will never get old. The ability to watch the process unfold and be part of a crucial stage in development is a privilege.
I enjoy the creative process and love to push myself to learn new tools and technologies as I find it rewarding to gain knowledge and new skills, which in development is a huge aspect.
“It’s not easy, but if you want it enough and push yourself you will see the rewards.” (this is something I told myself throughout university as i’ve always been an individual driven by ambition, but taking a year out post college with limited web development experience gave me doubts. But I can safely say all the long hours studying, the placement opportunity within the tank and my own self learning is paying off)
Life Outside Fish Tank
Outside the tank I like to spend time with my friends, family and in the outdoors going on walks. I also recently started training within a niche area of Karate which has been extremely rewarding and challenging, alongside doing Yoga. I have an addiction to buying houseplants and struggling trying to find space to put them where my two cats won’t destroy them.
Bucket List Best Bits
Travel to UNIFY Heavy Music Gathering in Australia to see some aussie heavy bands & go to Iceland to experience everything it has to offer. More closer to home in the future id like to convert an old barn into a house, making my own space along with owning land with some animals on it.
