Here at Fishtank, we are proud to make creative waves with passion and dedication. Across many of our departments, we have a group of incredible women who make the daily running of our rural agency that little bit easier.
From dedicated account managers and digital marketers to talented web and graphic designers, the female powerhouses here are nothing short of impressive. We shout about the amazing things they do across our social media and blogs as often as we can, so we thought we’d do something a little different for International Women’s Day.
To celebrate IWD, we asked all the Fishtank ladies what makes them proud to be a woman, inviting them to share what empowers them and the experiences that have shaped their journeys.
There is so much to be proud of as a woman that it’s difficult to stick to one reason! I’m lucky enough to have been raised surrounded by strong, intelligent and amazing women, and as I’ve grown older, I’ve realised just how much strength and resilience it actually takes to be a woman! We go through so much (often unseen or unnoticed) and yet still find ways to push through the hardships, often supporting others around us and lifting them up at the same time.
Our ability to continuously pour love into other people, despite what may be going on on a personal level, is amazing in itself. The emotional depth we feel as women that is often seen as weakness, I believe, is an absolute superpower!
Being a woman means so many things, and trying to name just one reason I’m proud of is almost impossible. But if I had to choose, it would be the empowerment.
The kind of empowerment that fuels our passion for life, love, and creativity. The strength we carry, the resilience we show—even when imposter syndrome tries to creep in. Despite still being underestimated, we continue to break barriers, lift each other up, and accomplish incredible things. And that’s something I’ll always be proud to be a part of.
Despite the way society breaks women down and pits us against each other, we always find the ability to rise above it all and continue to be supportive, passionate and strong, and that makes me incredibly proud. I know the saying ‘girl power’ has been slightly overused, but I think it holds a lot of merit when it comes to how we should look at ourselves and everything we have achieved (Sabrina Carpenter, take a bow); we really are powerful when we put our minds to it!
When I think of what it is to be a woman, the words strength and resilience come to mind. Women have faced centuries and centuries of challenges and still rise above them, breaking millions of barriers and standing tall in the face of inequality. The resilience we show day in and day out is of another level.
One thing that makes me proud to be a woman is that we are incredibly strong, nurturing, caring and great multitaskers! It’s a massive cliche, but our ability to carry children will always be impressive and powerful to me; we go through so many big changes to both our lifestyle and our bodies and still remain resilient, it’s just phenomenal.
One thing that makes me proud to be a woman is our ability to balance loads of daily responsibilities: work, home, and family, all while keeping a determined ‘I can handle this’ mindset. No matter how busy we are or what we have going on in our minds, we get the job done and keep on top of things, which is so hard to do. We really are a formidable force and true powerhouses.
There are so many reasons that I could list here, but a work-related one sprung to mind for me – working in web design makes me feel proud to be a woman every day. Being part of a traditionally male-dominated field and crafting groundbreaking sites that are winning awards and gaining so much positive client feedback will forever be something I’m passionate about.
We love how open, vulnerable and honest everyone has been here, and we hope this has inspired you to LOVE being a woman and all of the accomplishments we’ve achieved over the years. Remember to hold the special women in your life extra close today, because they are amazing!
