2022 That’s a Wrap!
With life slowly returning to normal and clients finally stepping back into our studio after countless virtual meetings, we can safely say this year has been a much-needed breath of fresh air for all of us in the Tank.
As we do every year, we wanted to reflect and celebrate all the great things that have happened this year. From client wins to website launches, personal achievements outside the Tank and big business plans for 2023… Let’s dive in!
We’ve onboarded some fin-tastic new clients this year and tackled a variety of projects that were a pleasure to take on creatively. We’ve had a blast helping Central Technology reinvent themselves, taking on Proove Pizza to bring their social media dreams to life, deep diving into all things accessible with Henshaws, and creating an all-new dynamic website experience for JMG Group.
Winning awards and gaining recognition for our websites is something we strive for each year, and what a year for websites it has been! In 2022, we’ve had the pleasure of designing and building a record amount of outstanding platforms for a range of new and long-standing clients. We’ve gone live with 15 innovative websites over 2022: Central Technology, Mattress World, Mclean, Martech, Seal for Life, Sam Teale Productions, Architectural Design Studio, Chelsea Beds, Aerocom, Just Voices, MESH, BritSystems, Glu Recruit, WildPR and Evolution Dinghy.
We embarked on a new and exciting journey with Central Technology, starting the chat with discussions on website maintenance to then finish on a full brand evolution, new website design and development, as well as interactive digital solutions. Since they were also reaching an incredible milestone this year by turning 20, it seemed only right that their website and social media reflected the amazing journey they’ve been on over the past two decades. You can read more about this vibrant project on our LinkedIn or check out our case study.
This year’s charity of choice, Sheffield Hospitals Charity, launched a fantastic campaign last month called ‘We’ve Got You’, solely focused on staff mental health and wellbeing initiatives. Their mission was to give back to the NHS and show appreciation for all the selfless staff that worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic. Given complete creative freedom, our design team did an amazing job of making this campaign visually striking, so much so, our designs were showcased on a popular billboard in the heart of Sheffield. Working with SHC has been an honour – it’s extremely rewarding for us as an agency based outside the city centre to work with big charities campaigning for important causes and to see our designs featured in city centres, ready for thousands of eyes to take them in and relate to their mission.

‘Tis the season that marketers prepare for all year round, and by preparing, we mean mentally accepting a full schedule of no sleep and organised chaos. However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom – this year we launched a Black Friday Giveaway for our client @bedworlduk and saw the results skyrocket beyond expectations – so much so we’ve launched another campaign for Christmas that is already receiving almost double the traffic following on from the previous competition! And… 🥁 before we knew it we were able to celebrate their Instagram account reaching over 10.5K followers!

In between all the little achievements, there was a pretty big one – winning the Examiner Business Awards Creative Impact Award 2021 for the inspiring work our team carried out on the Collection and Recycling Campaign launched with TUBEX, a sub-brand of one of our longest-standing global clients Berry Global, Inc.
With the growing demand for sustainability and ever-growing goals for businesses to reach net zero by 2030, the environment (along with many other world events that made history over the course of 2022) has been at the forefront of our minds. It was therefore an honour to work on a project that subsequently led to the recycling of over 25,000Kg of plastic in the UK.
This win was a great achievement for Fishtank as it celebrated all of the hard work done by our client Berry Global, Inc. in terms of reaching their sustainability goals and also acknowledged our own fantastic staff members from all departments within Fishtank: Design, Digital and Development.
Through a strategic digital campaign consisting of an interactive lead generation landing page, a strong Google Ads PPC campaign, a robust SEO strategy alongside high-quality graphics and animations created by our expert creative design team, we developed the building blocks for this programme to stand on and provided the necessary support for Tubex’s scheme to flourish and make a positive impact on the environment.
This was a great achievement for the team and we had a blast, celebrating in style with other local businesses at John Smith Stadium. Despite the delayed award ceremony due to COVID-19, it was a night to remember and a huge honour to receive acknowledgement for all the hard work put in by our Tankmates to make this happen.
The year might be coming to an end, but our workflow isn’t. We’re already reeling in exciting new projects and booking events for the new year, and we can’t wait to dive straight back in when we return from our Christmas break.
One of the exciting events we have planned for 2023 is a sponsored swim to raise money for our charity of choice, Sheffield Hospitals Charity, as part of our 15th birthday bucket list! A few brave members of the Tank will be taking the plunge by swimming 15 miles in January, and for every mile they reach, Fishtank will be donating £10. To show your support, please visit our Just Giving page and sponsor our staff – even the smallest donation helps!
Another item on our “15 before 15” bucket list is to visit the graphic design department at Huddersfield University to host a work placement competition. This competition will consist of an introductory session to Fishtank, specifically our design team, alongside a creative brief for them to complete as part of their final major project. We will then review the artwork once they’ve submitted their project and choose one winner to come and work alongside our graphic design team on a placement, enabling them to have the best experience a creative could possibly wish for (even if we do say so ourselves).
The new year comes with fresh opportunities to grow and develop. One of the biggest changes for online businesses in 2023 will be the move from Universal Analytics to GA4 – and since it is a melon twister, if you need any help or support please email us at email@example.com to book a 15-minute slot with our team and we can help you make the transition go as smoothly as possible for you and your business.
We want to give a big thank you to all of the clients who allowed us to join them on their creative journey in the digital world this year – we can’t wait to see what new briefs, projects and clients 2023 will reel in.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your team! Here’s to 2023 – a year full of reaching the #1 spot on Google, viral social media campaigns and generating nothing but high-quality leads 🥂
